you have all the online resources in the world. So why are you still in the same place with your drumming?

Because it’s not a lack of material; it’s a lack of direction.

Just like a car with 1000 horsepower, and no GPS. (This is also me realizing I should have called it 8020 Compass.)

Tell me if this sounds familiar:

Whether you're a solid "intermediate", or are closer to the beginning of your drum journey - or maybe picking it up again after a long break - you feel blocked in terms of "where to go".

It feels like there's so much potential stuff to practice, and you have no idea what you should be working on.

To make matters worse, there's the constant FOMO - every time you start working on one thing, you see somebody else doing something different, and wonder if you should be doing THAT.

You already have the time to practice, and you're already making the effort.

But you feel like you're flying blind, and it's hard to see if all that time you're spending is getting you anywhere, or if you're just spinning your wheels.

And it's not your fault! The blessing and curse of this modern world is there’s way more material than anyone could work on in a thousand lifetimes.

an embarrassment of (drum instructional) riches

There are free lessons and resources everywhere - even PAID ones, but that won't help with understand which of the myriad potential resources are right for *your* specific issues or goals...

...let alone anything that can give you feedback so you know when you're doing something "well enough"...

And what about when your issues are hidden - so you don't even realize certain things are holding you back.

And finally none of those online resources will help with the confidence "dips" when you start getting into hard stuff and don't know whether to quit or persist.

So what are your options? Up till now, not good.

the goldilocks problem

As we’ve covered, membership sites are great, if your problem is material. But for a certain drummer, what’s missing isn’t good material; it’s diagnosis, and direction.

There are drum lessons, but those are usually one-off, and not very bespoke.

Either it's a "great" drummer, who will give you a bunch of material as a one-off, and you're on your own again, or a local guy who's probably either like "let's work out of stick control; you finished page 3 last time, now let's go onto page 4", or else "what did you bring me this week".

Obviously music school is too expensive, at up to $25k a semester.

Then there are coaching programs like my 1:1, which runs $6.2k, and other coaches who charge the same, but *don't even customize* the curricula for that price. But that’s a big commitment.

If you're just getting your feet wet or want a lighter investment, or a more flexible time commitment, there's no other option.

But what if there was another option?

what would the ideal solution look like?

Let’s say hypothetically we architected the Goldilocks Program? Like, zero constraints, a white sheet of paper - what would we build to fill this huge and obvious gap in drum instruction?

Well, let’s brainstorm…(and I’m cheating because I’ve seen survey results from my community)

Something that filled the gap between completely self-directed material - which can be excellent but won't help you with any of that feedback or diagnosis stuff - and high-end 1:1 coaching, which can run into the high mid-4 figures.

Something that matched you to a curriculum at your level - something that *some* of those other high-end coaching programs don't even include.

Something that gave you facetime with a great teacher. Or, failing that, at least with the likes of ME. And not just as a one-off - on a regular basis, over the course of months, so we could monitor your progress and keep you on track.

Something that gave you diagnostic feedback to get you pointed in the right direction, and keep you on course, even through life's ups-and-downs.

Something that, unlike drum lessons, had a beginning, middle, and end, adapted to your goals, to guide you, step-by-step, toward a breakthrough.

Something that, although it’s an investment, wouldn’t break the bank. Something less than $1000, which, even when compared to mediocre drum lessons over an equivalent period, stacks up pretty favorably.

And finally, something that fits in your schedule, so you can utilize it *on demand*.

well here’s the nice thing about having my platform - i can build anything you want

So I went out and built it.

introducing - 8020 jumpstart

The ONLY coaching program in the universe - we're pretty sure - that offers diagnostic feedback

a curriculum matched to your specific needs, that starts where you are and takes you step by step toward a breakthrough…

…and live interactions with a great teacher, or, failing that, at least Yours Truly, 8020 guy.

It’s a level of feedback, personal attention, and curriculum customization that many drum coaching programs don’t even give you for 6x the price…

…but, all-in, tuition is less than $1000.

exactly what 8020 jumpstart includes

An on-demand system - Unlike other programs, Jumpstart gives you the flexibility to make use of feedback, live coaching, and community when it works for you.

That’s why you’ll have 9 months to finish the program from your “start date”, which you can specify as much as 6 weeks in the future.

Just one example of the type of material we’ll draw from.

Diagnosis - When you enroll, one of the first things you’ll get is a comprehensive diagnosis of where you are with your playing, and advice on the best way to achieve your goals.

A Curriculum Matched to Your Goals and Ability Level - After I diagnose your playing, we’ll match you to a curriculum that’s aligned with your goals and ability level. Many programs out there, including much more expensive ones, use “one size fits all” curriculums.

Personalized Feedback - Every student in 8020 Jumpstart gets 9 credits for diagnostic feedback from me, on any video you submit. This keeps you accountable, but also saves you tons of time by making sure you’re focussed on the right details.

The amount of time you can save by knowing the 1-3 things to focus on, out the potential 99 options, is hard to overstate.

It’s not uncommon to hear, from first-time students “nobody’s ever told me that before.”

A “Virtual Campus” - As with all my live coaching programs, in 8020 Jumpstart you get 9 months of access to the virtual campus, and lifetime access to the alumni group. These are private groups where you can “vibe” with your fellow students, as if you were walking down the hall in music school, hearing others practice, and stopping by to ask for and share advice.

Live workshops - You get 6 credits for live workshops, where you get facetime with me and can ask any questions, plus interact with your fellow student.

And, because I know some students are “saving up” for 1:1, I want to make this a complete no-brainer: within one calendar year of your start-date, if you decide to upgrade to 1:1, you can apply 100% of your Jumpstart Tuition to the 1:1.

So Jumpstart can literally be a “head start” to get the most out of 1:1 in the future…

…or just a reset, so you have the direction to continue things on your own.

You might be wondering, "will this work for me".

Well, let’s hear from some current and former students:

hear a real student talk about his progress on a live workshop

“listen in” on a real coaching workshop

Wondering what it’s like to be on a live call with me and your fellow students? In this excerpt, I speak with Erik, one of my students, about some challenges he’s having with one of the exercises in the program.

So, how do you get started?

Super simple. For this program, you can just click the button below, pay the tuition through the secure payment at the bottom of the page, and we'll hold your slot.

Once you've paid, you'll be taken to the orientation page, where you'll answer a quick survey which will help us determine how to place you, and submit a few short videos, which will be the basis for your first diagnostic feedback.

You'll also specify when you want your 9 months to start, which can be any time between tomorrow and November first.

After that, we'll match you to your curriculum, invite you into the private discord community, and you can schedule your first live call to join.

Then, throughout the 9 months, you can spend "call" and "video diagnosis" credits as you see fit.

Heard enough? Just click the button below to cut to the chase.

Hear from real coaching students, and see their progress.

Adam and Brian both made breakthroughs with their groove and flow - going from feeling “muddled”, to being able to express exactly what they wanted to say on the drums.

Chris wanted to play more “fusion-ish” vocabulary, but needed to learn the timing, vocabulary, and muscle memory first.

My jazz student went from playing the “book version” of jazz beats, to flowing in swing beats in his own voice.

imagine having this kind of breakthrough in your own playing

It’s not rocket science. It’s just giving you a direction, and ensuring you stay pointed the right way.

What if you had the type of diagnostic feedback, teacher facetime, curriculum matched to your needs, and clear path to follow that gave you the exact steps to follow to achieve the drum breakthrough you've been after...

...all for less than $1000.
