You're already practicing 5-7 hours a week. What if you had a guarantee you weren't wasting your time?
In early 2025 I asked my audience what I could provide that nobody else is doing and they were practically unanimous:
Fill the gap between self-directed courses and membership sites, and college music programs.
And in a way that works for your busy schedule.
That's why I created 8020 custom coaching.
Six months of one on one feedback from Me...
...and a custom curriculum written for your specific goals.
Plus live interaction every week on group workshops.
This sits in between group coaching and full 1:1, and gives you most of the same benefits, without the time commitment.
Let's talk a little about the drummer this is for:
You're not just a hobbyist. Your goal is to be Good. And you've made time to achieve that goal. And it's not always easy to make that time:
You have family, career, friends, obligations.
But you know how playing makes you feel when it's working.
And you know the feeling of getting better.
And you want to experience that more consistently.
And, how do I put this: you don't want that time and effort you're spending to go to waste.
I've interviewed tons of drummers for my programs, and the same things keep coming up. It's the classic "intermediate rut."
When you first started, practically anything you worked on helped. But then it got harder.
Maybe you put the drums away to focus on family and career...
...or maybe it just started to feel like work.
The “intermediate rut”
Either way, the intermediate rut is hard for a few reasons:
First, you've already gotten most of the low hanging fruit out of the way. To keep getting better, you need to get specific, and pay more attention to detail. And not just any detail; the right details.
What's more, you're in a phase where it's really easy to lose confidence and "hate everything you're playing." That's because you're far enough along to know how good you Need to be, but still inexperienced enough that your playing falls short of your new tastes.
Also, it's hard to know without an outside perspective if you're getting better, or just spinning your wheels.
Or if an exercise or practice routine is helping, or if you're stuck in a rut and you should do something else.
And the constant barrage of virtuoso drummers on social media doesn't help. "Gosh, maybe I should practice this! Or this!"
The stuff you're working on feels a million miles away from what you want to come out in your playing. Is that because you have to work on fundamentals? Or are you just wasting time?
All of this adds up to the thing I very scientifically call the bad voodoo spiral, and trust me when I say I just invented that.
Practice gets hard, you can't tell if you're getting better, and it gets harder and harder to hollow out that time you made.
And sometimes, all that willpower you summoned...goes to waste.
The “damn this feels good” virtuous circle
And that's a shame, because what if I told you there is a level you can get to where it's just the opposite. Where playing and practicing feels good 95% of the time. Where sure, you still know you have stuff to work on, but you're confident in your own voice.
When that happens, you enjoy practice. Which leads to more growth. Which leads to enjoying practice even more. Which leads to sticking with it. Which leads to results like Chris’ —>
And that's why I designed this program. To take you by the hand and pull you from that negative - bad voodoo spiral - into that "damn this feels good" virtuous circle.
So how do we do it?
With feedback, accountability, and customization.
What if you had a program that let you know exactly what to work on, and for how long?
That was customized to your goals, instead of one-size-fits-all?
What if you had somebody to tell you where to pay more attention, so you could rest assured you're getting the max out of what you work on.
And to help you decide when things are hard because they're supposed to be hard, and you're on the verge of a breakthrough...
...or hard because the exercise is a bad fit for you and you should change it.
And to help you through those rough patches when your confidence can suffer?
That's exactly what the new 8020 Custom coaching program offers.
Introducing 8020 custom coaching
Unlimited 1:1 feedback on your playing.
A program customized to your specific goals - so you're not following somebody else's blueprint of how to become the player of your dreams - you're following your own.
And the gentle accountability of submission deadlines, and group live workshops, which are a lot of fun, and people look forward to, and which will help give you just that little bit more will power when you're choosing whether to go into the shed or "netflix and chill".
And here's the best part - it's all designed to work without adding much-if-any time to your existing practice routine. In fact, if you already practice 5-7 hours per week, this program will only add on average an hour to your week.
You're already spending the time. What if you could be guaranteed it would work for you.
Speaking of guarantees, this is the exact same formula that's worked for what's going-on dozens of students in the Impossible to fail program.

how to get started
Sal - 8020 Admissions Rep
Because we only have 1-2 slots available for this program every few months…
…and it’s for such a specific drummer, we have an application process.
We want to make sure your goals fit what we do in the program, you’re at the optimal level to get the most out of it, and quite frankly that you’re somebody we’re going to enjoy spending potentially 2 hours with every week.
You probably want to “vet” us and sound us out as well.
That’s why we have a “mutual application process”: we evaluate each other, and there’s zero pressure or commitment on either side to move forward until we’ve made a mutual decision.
That process starts by booking a 20-30-minute call at a time that works for you, and answering a few questions.
Seth - 8020 Admissions Rep
You’ll automatically be assigned to one of our admissions reps - Seth and Sal - depending on who’s available when you want to speak.
There is zero commitment to join, and we will NOT hard-sell you at any point in this process, for the very simple reason that we only want to give our limited slots to people who really want to be there.
Seth or Sal will ask you a few questions, tell you more about the program, and let you know about the investment options
You’ll make a mutual no-pressure decision about whether it’s a good fit to move forward
If it’s a “go” on both sides, your admissions rep will schedule a short call with me, and we’ll make the final admissions decision.
imagine yourself in this program
Your very own, custom curriculum, based on the 8020 principles that have helped me and thousands of students succeed in the past decade, and continuous "case management" for six months.
Six months of mostly-weekly live group coaching sessions with me, where we'll check in about your progress, give you coaching cues, work through mental and physical barriers, and adjust course if needed.
And individual feedback on your playing.
Do you feel like you could succeed in blasting past your blockers with a program like this?
